Bhakta Kanaka Das birth anniversary celebrated in Anantapur
Anantapur: The state level Bhakta Kanaka Das birth anniversary has been organised as a state festival by the government here on Sunday on a grand note.
Minister for BC Welfare M Sankara Narayana inaugurated the festival in the presence of several Kuruba leaders. The community worships legendary Bhakta Kanaka Das, popularly known as Kanaka Dasa. The minister thanked Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving recognition to Kurubas by celebrating Kanaka Das as a state festival.
MP Gorantla Madhav stated that Kanaka Das inspired the society with his teachings and added that organising Kanaka Das birth anniversary as state festival is a welcome step. District Collector S Sathyanarayana also spoke on the occasion.
The Kuruba community people organised a rally through the main roads of the city carrying the portrait of the saint Kanaka Das. Former mayor Rage Parasuram and state Kuruba Association president Jabbala Sreenivasulu and others were present.
