Bhaskara flat owners demand 25 lakh compensation in Kakinada
Kakinada: The flat owners of Bhaskara Estate demanded that the State government pay Rs 25 lakh each as compensation to them on the lines of the Supreme Court directive in a case related to Kerala in an apartment issue.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, they said that all of them belong to the middle class and they purchased the flats with bank loans. But the pillars of the apartment developed cracks and the JNTU-K Expert Team submitted a report to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) and suggested the the KMC should demolish the apartment totally to avoid caving in of the structure in future.
Social activist Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju alleged that though they lodged a police compliant against the builder, the police did not take him into custody so far due to political influence of Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy.
He said that neither Chandrasekhara Reddy nor former MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) had given any support to the flat owners to deliver justice to them.
He said that when Shyamala Sadan collapsed, then the police arrested the builder. Now, why the police did not arrest the Bhaskara Estate builder, he questioned. CPM city secretary Ch Ajaykumar requested the government to do justice to the flat owners immediately.
One of the flat owners, Mamidala Ramakrishna, a visually disabled, said that he got a loan from the bank and purchased the apartment. He has to pay monthly installments without fail. But, from September 19, he along with other apartment owners were thrown out of Bhaskara Estate and nobody came to their rescue.
Flat owners M Vishnu, Suresh Kumar, Aluri Suresh, Surya Kiran Reddy, Suryanarayana, Vishunu, Harisha, Sathishkumar, Gopi, Jogeswara Rao and others were present. CPI- ML New Democracy leader J Venkateswarlu, SFI City Secretary M Ganga Suribabu and others extended their support.
