Bid to grab freedom fighter's house alleged in Chittoor

Chittoor: The 70-year-old house of veteran freedom fighter E A Arunachalam, located on Church street here is set to be demolished amidst protests from the daughters Ravamani ( 55) and Renuka

(52). In response to the claim of the two sisters, Chittoor DSP Eswara Reddy deployed the police personnel on Friday to prevent the demolition and to ensure protection for the two unmarried sisters, according to official information.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, Ravamani, who is also the editor of a weekly Voice of Rayalaseema, stated that they were living in the house for the past 70 years. `` A neighbour of our house hatched a conspiracy to own our house by way of creating fake documents. The court has already given verdict in our favour.

Using his money and muscle power , he has been threatening us to vacate our house for the last several months. Today, he made an attempt to demolish our house. But the police have rescued us and prevented his attempt," she said. She further said that most of the local dailies have already published about their poor and miserable lives.

On the issue, K Eswar Reddy, DSP, said that he will not allow attempts for demolishing the house of the freedom fighter. ``If the said neighbour has any right on the house , he should approach the court only and he has no right to intimidate the two unmarried sisters taking advantage of their poverty and loneliness, " he added.
