BJP and JSP demands to help walking migrant workers through AP to other states
Amaravati: BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana criticised state government for neglecting the migrant workers who have been walking through our state to reach their destinations from thousands of kilometres, in a statement on Sunday.
He stated that, "It is highly inhuman that State government has not been proactive towards the walking migrant labours problems, inspite of huge financial assistance by central government and time to time guidelines and instructions.
Moved by the woes of migrant workers, High Court of AP also directed state government to open shelters, provide facilities, arrange medical treatment and ambulances on high way. The HC further instructed to provide toilets for women, arrange buses to nearby places and others."
Pawan Kalyan, president, Jana Sena party also demanded state government to take responsibility of the migrant workers, walking and cycling miles together. He said that, "The troubles of migrant workers who are travelling under the scorching Sun trekking on the roads restlessly carrying bags on their shoulders and bagful of luggage on their heads to reach their native places are heartrending.
In the process, they are losing their lives in the road accidents, while some others breathing their last on the way with ill-health.
It is unfortunate that a migrant worker collapsed and died while travelling from Rayalaseema to north Andhra in the State. The State governments must take responsibility to prevent such incidents."
