BJP demands Jagan to end Amaravati controversy, continue it as state capital
Amaravati: The BJP demanded to continue the Amaravati as capital, on the occasion of 170 days continuous peaceful protest in the CRDA villages by the farmers who donated their lands to the State government for construction of the capital city.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Thursday stated that "The farmers who sacrificed their livelihood lands to the government have been staging peaceful agitation from 170 days. Their agitation, despite the repressive actions of the government, has caught the attention of the whole world and sympathy. Even during the lockdown, the women staged protests in the most disciplined manner and honoured the lockdown rules."
He further added that it was highly inhuman on the part of the Chief Minister, who did not pay heed to their genuine and highly acceptable demands. He demanded Jagan to respect the farmers and announce the continuation of the Administrative capital at Velagapudi in Amaravati itself. He suggested the Chief Minister end all the controversies and focus on the development and good governance.
