BJP foresees defeat for TDP over Chandrababu Naidu flipflops

Visakhapatnam/Vizianagaram: BJP senior leader and railway minister Piyush Goyal said N Chandrababu Naidu lost his credibility among people for frequently changing his stances, principles and policies. "He can be described as 'U-turn leader' of Andhra Pradesh. People are not believing him for his changing attitudes. We believe that he will be defeated in coming elections," he said while addressing the BJP activists and media in Vizianagaram and Visag on Tuesday.

He said Naidu was deflecting the people's attention from corruption by blaming the Centre for his failurs. Goyal said Rs 17,000-plus crore has so far been sanctioned by the Centre under special package. "The funds granted under the special package are double the amount the state would have gotten under the SCS tag. This apart, the Centre also extended support to some of the other projects beyond the purview of the AP Reorganisation Act," he added.

Urging the people to question Naidu for delayed execution of Polavaram project despite the Centre providing the financial assistance, he said: "We have sanctioned huge amount of funds for Polavaram project and for Amaravati too. But he thinks that he is not accountable to the Union government or to the public. How is it possible? Every government is answerable to the people. Moreover, Naidu could not complete even a single building and simply showing graphics and misguiding the people on new capital. Further, he is naming every Central scheme after him and claiming credit to himself."

The railway minister said they had given the separate railway zone with Vizag as headquarters in according to the demands of the people, besides allotting many Central educational institutions and facilities. "Still Naidu is carrying out propaganda against us. Now the people came to know the facts and we feel that they will teach him a lesson," said Goyal.

Referring to criticism over disappearance of Waltair division, he said that a separate division hardly matters, when the zonal headquarters was being created in Visakhapatnam. Attributing the delay on the announcement of the railway zone to various reasons, Piyush Goyal said the decision was made keeping the stakeholders in view, economic feasibility and considering other technical factors.
