BJP hails Centre for taking up hockey court works
Kakinada: BJP state executive committee member and Srikakulam district in-charge Pedireddy Karan hailed the taking up of synthetic hockey ground at District Sports Authority grounds in Kakinada under 'Khelo India' programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a cost of Rs 5 crore.
Disclosing the details on Friday, the BJP leader said that Rs 5 crore had been sanctioned for taking up the synthetic court in the year 2017 and funds to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore were released for starting the works.
As the process had not stated even by 2018, Ravi Karan said that a complaint has been lodged with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Sports, Government of India for delay in taking up works despite allocation of funds.
Based on the complaint, the Sports Ministry wrote a letter to AP Sports Authority and exerted pressure for taking up the works and tender process.
Ravi Kiran said that the works have been started on Friday much to the delight of sports lovers, particularly hockey.
The BJP leader thanked the Ministry of Spots for taking the initiative for speedy execution of synthetic hockey court.
