BJP protests shifting of Vinayaka Sagar

Kakinada: The BJP activists staged a dharna in front of the Collector's office here on Thursday expressing serious concern over shifting of Ganesh idols immersion venue from Vinayaka Sagar to some other location.

The activists raising slogans against the YSRC government and the officials, demanded the government to construct Bala Gangahdar Pranganam in Vinayaka Sagar area permanently for immersion programme.

Participating in the agitation, BJP MLC Somu Veerraju lashed out at the officials and the state government and demanded the officials should reveal the hidden agenda of relocating the venue hurting the sentiments of Hindus. He also condemned the arrest of Dharma Prachara Parishad leader Ch Gavaraiah by police.

Ramkumar, 36th ward corporator S Lakshmi Prasanna, Nagara Ganesh Samithi president Duvvuri Subrahmanyam and honorary president Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju participated in the agitation. Later, Somu Veerraju and others submitted a memorandum to the Joint Collector-2 G Rajakumari in this regard.
