Blood donation will not affect health: Collector

Kakinada: East Godavari Collector D Muralidhar Reddy called upon the people to donate blood as it would help in saving precious lives and it should be treated as social responsibility. Participating in blood donation camp organised at Rangaraya Medical College here in connection with World Blood Donor Day on Friday, the Collector suggested that special occasions of individuals such as birthdays should be celebrated by donating blood. The Collector said that donating blood once in a year would not affect the health in any way.

Muralidhar Reddy also said that the blood banks that are being maintained in the district have been taking care of blood needs.He informed that there were some anaemic cases in the agency area in the district and the district administration was taking care in treating such cases.

In this connection, the Collector felicitated V Ananta Swaroop, CC to the collector who donated blood hundred times and other blood donors. Earlier, the Collector inaugurated the camp by donating blood.

Ch Sathibabu, Joint Collector 2, M Raghavendrarao, Superintendent, Government General Hospital, Kakinada, R Mahalakshmi, Principal, Rangaraya Medical College and Dr M Pavan Kumar, nodal officer, blood banks and others attended.
