Botcha compounds confusion
Vizianagaram: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana on Sunday said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was reconsidering the construction of capital in Amaravati.
Capital city should not be intended for the benefit of a particular community or section. It should be the common property of the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said. The Minister participated in an awareness programme organised for village, ward volunteers here on Sunday.
He said the previous government didn't listen to the recommendations made by Sivaramakrishnan Committee which had strongly opposed the construction of capital in the present location.
The area in which the capital is being constructed faces flood threat, he said. But the TDP government didn't listen to the recommendations made by Sivaramakrishnan Committee and took its own decision for the benefit of some people, he alleged.
The Minister also criticised Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan for adopting double standards on the issue of the State capital. Later, Botcha addressed the village volunteers who attended the awareness camp and said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy personally witnessed the problems of people during his Padayatra and now appointed the volunteers to extend full support to the common people in the State.
The volunteers should know their duties and discharge them with utmost commitment. "We have given 34 assurances during elections and will implement every poll promise without fail.
The people would also shower their blessings on the leaders if they fulfill their promises. We are recruiting large number of people as volunteers to serve the people in better way," he said. MLA K Veerabhadra Swamy and others also took part in the programme.
