Brandix to expand its base in Andhra Pradesh, aiming at local market

Amaravati: One of the major apparel manufacturing companies, Brandix is proposing to expand its production base in the State with a potential to create another 22,000 employment. It already has been providing employment to around 22,000 at Special Economic Zone in Visakhapatnam.

Ashroff Omar, CEO, Brandix met the Minister for Industries M Goutham Reddy at Secretariat here on Monday and explained their proposal for expanding. At present, the manufacturing unit is located in the Visakhapatnam is export oriented. But now, it is proposed to expand their products into the domestic market, including state and the country.

Reacting to their proposals, the Minister assured that the AP government will facilitate the speedy clearances of all the licenses and permissions.

It is estimated that the company has needed at least 50 acrs of land for establishing the new manufacturing unit.

Reacting to a question on state government's recent Act, which mandated the industries to provide 75 percent employment to locals, Ashroff Omar said that the company is willing to hire more than 98 percent of local employees. Adding to that, the women would get more employment than the men in their manufacturing unit, he added.

With a view to tap the local market demand, we aimed at the expansion, he added.
