Breaking: Centre lifts the ban on exportation of Krishnapuram Onions

The central government has given good news for the people of Andhra Pradesh by lifting the ban on the exportation of Krishnapuram onions. The government has issued a notification permitting the export of onions. In the notification, the Centre has allowed the export of 10 thousand metric tonnes of onion from the Chennai port. At the same time, the Centre has put a deadline to complete the exportation by March 31.

Meanwhile, the farmers have expressed their happiness over the release of a notification by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry lifting the ban on exports of onions. Leaders of farmer associations in Delhi thanked YSRCP MPs at the parliamentary complex for their efforts. YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy tweeted that it is their policy that to look after the welfare of the farmers.

YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy addressed Rajya Sabha two days ago raising the issue of exportation of onions to which the Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal responded positively and now the decision to lift the ban has been taken to this extent.

Varieties of onions grown in Andhra Pradesh are mostly exported abroad. However, due to the ban on exports, the onion cannot be shipped for the last six months. Along with onion, the Centre had also approved the export of Red Rose varieties of onion grown in Karanataka.
