Tirupati: BJP leaders have come in rescue of the people, who were suffering from government's sand policy. State BJP Executive member A Satish Kumar, BJP District Vice-President R Viswanath and other party leaders have submitted a representation to Tirupati Sub Collector Dr R Mahesh Kumar on Tuesday requesting him to immediately take steps to bring a temporary policy for hassle free transport of sand.

They mentioned that both public and labourers were subjected to severe hardship with the ban on sand mining and transportation and thousands of constructions have stalled in the city. Still, several people were involved in transportation of sand in unauthorised manner. The Sub Collector assured them that a temporary policy will be announced in two days.

Meanwhile, following the government's directive to Collectors to take steps and give permissions for sand transportation on case-by-case manner to the needy with the priority being given to government constructions, people were seen standing in large numbers at Tirupati Urban and Rural Tahsildar Offices. They were applying for the sand by submitting the required proofs.

While, people in Tirupati Urban limits were given permissions after officials have gone through their documents, Rural people were denied approvals. People have waited till evening before the office and were seen criticising the policy. They have been requesting the District Collector to instruct Rural Tahsildar also to issue permits for sand transportation.
