Burevi Cyclone effect: 66 mandals in Chittoor received rains in last 24 hours
Tirupati: In the span of one week again Chittoor District witnessed continuous downpour by the Burevi cyclone effect. Farmers are worrying about safeguarding harvested agri products. And also agriculture fields which had been affected by the Nivar cyclone are not coming back to normalcy, in many manuals fields were seen with mud and sand reaches. Hence the present continuous downpour leads to much more damage to the agriculture fields sail. To restore the fields farmers have to invest huge money. In the situation, farmers were in depression due to incessant rains which have been showing a bad impact on the district agricultural sector.
In view of Burevi cyclone the District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta sounded alert to the officials over taking precautionary measures in cyclone-prone areas in Tirupati, Chittoor and Madanapalle division.
Many irrigation tanks and reservoirs are brimming with water with the effect of last week's Nivar cyclone heavy rains. Now all the water bodies and reservoirs were in its full storage capacity. Few of the irrigation tanks bunds breached due to heavy rains. Water resource management officials restored the tank bunds breaches on a temporary arrangement by putting sand bags.
District authorities are also in tension where the tank bunds will breach by the effect of present Burevi cyclone downpour.
From Thursday morning all the 66 mandal in the Chittoor District received moderate to heavy rains. In few places in eastern mandals in Tirupati division like Vardaiaha Palem, Nindra, VijayaPuram, NagalaPuram received heavy rainfall. Remaining all the mandals also witnessed incessant rains during the last 24 hours.
All the Municipal Commissioners including Tirupati city Municipal Corporation and other urban local bodies in the district were geared up by the Collector over taking cyclone precautionary measures.
Similarly, Tirupati urban Police as well as Chittoor District Police SPs instructed the local police to start patrolling on irrigation tank bunds and river banks full of floods flowing at danger level.
Thursday morning, MR Palli CI P Surendranath Reddy and his staff rescued low lying area people at Cheruvulo indlu in Cherlopalli Panchayat which is the adjacent dwelling area of Peruru tank in Tirupati rural mandal. Police have shifted them to a relief camp and provided rice and groceries with their own money.
