Bus overturned after dashing motorbike, two died and eight injured

Markapuram: Two people travelling on a motorbike are died when they speedily overtook an APSRTC bus and fell under it by causing the passenger vehicle to overturn and injuring eight others, near Markapuram on Sunday evening.

According to the police and locals, the APSRTC bus of Kadapa depot, bearing registration number AP04Z 0340 is on its return journey from Srisailam as per the schedule, with 22 passengers. When the bus reached Rajayoga Ashram, near A1 Global Engineering College, just before entering Markapuram town, two men riding a motorbike with registration number AP27BE7202 overtook it and immediately tried to keep left. In the meantime, the bike slowed down and they fell under the bus resulting the passenger vehicle overturn as the driver Sk Basha to applied sudden brakes immediately.

The locals and passengers on the road lunged to action and helped the passengers in the bus to come outside. The Markapuram SI Avula Venkata Saidulu and Peddaraveedu SI D Ramakrishna reached the spot immediately with their staff and shifted the eight injured passengers to the hospital in Markapuram in an ambulance. They found that the two-person on the motorbike are Shaik Abdul Rehman, aged 30 years and native of Markapuram town and Shaik Shahid, aged 18 years of Zuturu village in Atmakur mandal of Kurnool district and a student of Dr Samuel George College of Engineering and Technology in Markapuram. The police officials shifted the bodies of the deceased to the government hospital in Markapuram, registered a case and started the investigation.
