Cabinet to give a shine to Navratnas: CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

Amaravati: The State cabinet, which would meet here on Wednesday, is likely to review the implementation of Navratnas and progress of welfare schemes' implementation as it proposes to hold the local body elections in January.

The cabinet will also discuss the issue of construction activity and assess the ongoing works that were taken up during the TDP regime. The state government feels that it will not be possible for it to take up large-scale activity due to financial crunch. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will also discuss the proposed tour of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to the capital city of Amaravati.

Other issues that are likely to figure in the cabinet include functioning of APPSC and the possibility of removing its chairman. The merger of the APSRTC into the State government and the hurdles that need to be overcome may also come up for discussion. It will also ratify the decision to hike the financial assistance to BC students who want to study abroad.

The increased sales prices of liquor, reducing the number of bars and other issues pertaining to new liquor policy will also be discussed and ratified. Amidst reports that following the new liquor policy there has been increase in smuggling of liquor from Karnataka and Telangana may also come for discussion.
