Call to ensure 9-hour free power supply to farm sector: ED Nagulapalli Srikant
Visakhapatnam: Secretary for Energy Department Nagulapalli Srikant instructed the officials concerned to provide nine hours free power supply to farm sector during daytime.
At a review meeting held here on Friday with APEPDCL and APTRANSCO officials, he also exhorted the officials to provide uninterrupted quality and reliable power supply to all consumers including domestic, industrial and commercial sectors.
He directed the officials to take necessary steps to facilitate nine hours free power supply to agriculture by April 2020. Further, he told them to release pending connection for agriculture purpose if any with immediate effect. He requested the officials to initiate action to reduce the transmission losses and try to increase the revenue to the DISCOM.
He reviewed the World Bank financial assistance works and directed the officials to complete them in time. He said that officials of APEPDCL and APTRANSCO should strengthen their network with co-ordination and ensure providing uninterrupted quality and reliable power 24x7 to consumers, overcoming problems in supply and distribution of power.
The meeting was attended by Chairman and Managing Director of APEPDCL Nagalakshmi Selvarajan, director (operation and projects) K Rajabapaiah, among others.
