Call to protect women from trafficking in Ongole

Ongole: Kandukuru Sub-divisional police officer B Ravichandra said that human trafficking was a criminal offence and everyone should feel the responsibility to protect girls and women from trafficking.

Speaking at a workshop on human trafficking, organised by Girls Advocacy Alliance, on Tuesday, he explained about the latest advanced technology being used by the police department to curb illegal human trafficking.

He said that the police should be very alert from the day the case is filed and till a judgment was given in the case. He said that awareness programmes should be organized at village level on the consequences of child labor and trafficking.

Kandukuru Town circle inspector Vijay Kumar said police, NGO, voluntary organisations would coordinate and work to crackdown the trafficking maniac. Girls Advocacy Alliance state officer M Anand explained about trafficking, how it is carried, who will be behind trafficking, reasons, law, role of police and responsibility through power point presentation at the workshop. N Srinivasa Murthy, M Murali Krishna, Sk Mastan, P Venkateswarulu, T Ramanaiah and others were present.
