Campaign to end child marriages launches in Kanigiri
Kanigiri: Two girls, D Mary Suneetha and M Priyanka, who were rescued from the child marriage, became the HELP Youth Advocates to campaign against the child marriages and child trafficking.
Suneetha and Priyanka joined hands with the HELP Girls Advocacy Alliance, NGOs Snehahastham, Good Help, and district legal services authority and decided to create awareness on the child marriages by taking up a tour.
They bought a van with their saved money and started the campaign on Sunday. They said that they are taking up the yatra as a social responsibility in association with the HELP and in Kanigiri, where highest child marriages are being reported in the district.
Inaugurating the campaign, the paralegal volunteer and HELP programme officer BV Sagar said that youth should take initiative and responsibility in eradicating the child marriages in the society.
The representatives from Snehahastam and Good Help, D Sudheer Babu and M Ramesh also participated in the programme.
