Nellore: TDP district spokesperson Anam Venkataramana Reddy flayed that the Minister for Water Resources P Anil Kumar Yadav had failed to follow transparent system in canal and desilting works in the district.

Reddy addressed the media at the party office on Thursday and said that the YSR Congress leaders have earlier raised allegations on Neeru-Chettu activity and questioned how the administration had accepted single short tenders when quoted excess amount.

There is corruption in desilting and construction works of canals in the district which brings an additional burden of Rs. 10 crore to the government, he said. He also informed that a single person filed tender for each category of work with an excess amount and that indicates something went wrong.

"You scolded us alleging corruption in Neeru-Chettu programme. Now are encouraging single person to file tenders. You threatened other contractors forcing them not to participate in the bidding process.

How a single tender was accepted in many mandals even as you are repeatedly saying about the retendering process in Polavaram project? Now contractors are scared of competing in Irrigation Minister's own district," said Venkataramana Reddy. He demanded the District Collector to cancel all tenders where single short tenders were filed.
