Capital debate heats up : Naidu kin gained from insider trading, reiterates Botsa
Amaravati: Minister for Urban Development Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday reiterated his charge of largescale insider trading by previous government before deciding on Amaravati as the location for capital city.
Addressing a marathon press conference, Botsa said families of former Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and former Union Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Y Sujana Chowdary had purchased hundreds of acres of land.
Satyanarayana observed that Chandrababu Naidu's relative was given a huge chunk of land at throwaway price and the same land was merged with the Capital Region so that the value can be escalated.
This is one example for insider trading that took place during previous TDP government. He alleged that Naidu gave around 493 acres to his relative MSP Rama Rao at Jayantipuram village at Jaggayyapeta mandal in Krishna district. Rama Rao's son Sribharat married Nandamuri Tejaswini, who is the daughter of Nandamuri Balakrishna.
"The government gave 493 acres for VBC company, which is owned by Rama Rao. It was given at throw away price of Rs 1 lakh per acre through APIIC. Later, it was merged with the CRDA, through GO MS No 207 dated September 22, 2015", he said.
Jitin Kumar, who is cousin of Y Sujana Chowdary, got land of 110 acres at Gudimetla village, Chandarlapadu mandal. He is director of Kalinga Greentech company, which owns the land. This is one out of 120 companies of Sujana Chowdary. Similarly, Sujana Chowdary's nephew Yalamanchili Rishi Kanya also holds 14 acres at Govindaraju palem, Veerulapadu mandal.
The Minister said that these examples are mere tip of an iceberg. The irregularities and corrupt practices will soon be exposed by the government, he said.
Botsa, however, evaded a reply to a question on whether the government will construct the capital city of Amaravati or does it propose to shift to some other area.
