Career guidance cells essential at colleges: Srikakulam Collector Nivas

Srikakulam: Career guidance cells are essential at all degree colleges across the district to guide the students, said District Collector J Nivas.

He attended the books distribution event at the Government College for Women here on Thursday.

Books for various competitive examinations were distributed for students at the degree college. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector suggested to the students to utilise the career guidance cells and libraries at the colleges to prepare for competitive examinations and ensure a bright future for themselves. He called upon them to avail opportunities to serve people directly.

By preparing for competitive examinations, students will automatically gain additional abilities like patience, hard work and dedication, the Collector elaborated.

Group discussion among students is most important in preparation for competitive examinations to improve knowledge, memory and language skills, he said. The Collector also asked Principals of various degree colleges to run coaching classes for students at their colleges weekly twice - on Saturday and Sunday to help students prepare well for examinations.

He also suggested improvement of facilities at libraries and also digitalization of libraries for the benefit of students. Spoken English classes are also essential for students to improve their language skills. Principals of various degree colleges and lecturers attended the event.
