Cases of theft on rise in Srikakulam dist
Srikakulam: Total nine theft incidents were reported in one night in a colony in Srkakulam city and another nine theft incidents occurred across the district in a span of 15 days.
With these incidents, people are worried over safety of their assets and they are afraid to leave their houses. Late on Thursday night, thieves struck at nine houses in AP Housing Board (APHB) colony in Srikakulam city. They have stolen gold ornaments, cell phones, money purses, ATM cards; lap tops and bike spare parts etc.
Police received complaints from owners of nine houses P Viswa Nadha Rao, K Laxmana Rao, T Suryanarayana, P Mohan Rao and K Haribabu, all these five victims are residing in middle income group (MIG) houses in the APHB Colony.
Two other houses owners, J Janardhan and K Bhavan, are residents of the lower income group (LIG) houses in the colony. All these victims have lost their valuables. Their houses were locked and thieves identified these houses and broke the locks and windows to gain entry into the houses and took away valuables from the houses.
Within a period of 15 days in the district, nine other theft incidents were reported in the rest of the district. At Palasa, Tekkali and other areas, thieves have broke open locked houses and decamped with valuables.
Police suspect that youth addicted to vices could have been involved in the thefts to make easy money. Police registered cases regarding all theft incidents across the district and launched investigation. Clues team members have been deployed across the district to collect clues and police teams appointed to nab offenders.
