CAT dismisses AB Venkateswar Rao's plea of seeking stay on suspension
The Central Administrative Tribunal has given a rude shock to the former intelligence of Andhra Pradesh AB Venkateshwar Rao by dismissing the petitions filed against the Andhra Pradesh government for suspending him from duties. In his petition, he alleged that government of harassing him for last one year and said it was illegal for the AP government to suspend him.
AB Venkateswara Rao told CAT that the suspension was issued against him due to political pressure and appealed in his petition to stay the AP government's suspension order. CAT however decided to dismiss his petition and suggested Venkateswara Rao that he could consult the central government if there were any objections. The AP government has reportedly suspended him for wasting public money in the name of modernizing the police department.
AB Venkateshwar Rao, IPS officer of 1989 batch of AP Cadre who was the Intelligence Chief during the TDP government. On the complaint of the YCP, he was transferred from the post of Intelligence Chief before the last election. A senior IPS officer of the DGP level and former intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao has been suspended by the AP government.
