CBI special court to give its verdict today on Jagan's petition seeking exemption from attending court
Chief Minister YS Jagan has filed a petition seeking an exemption from attending court in person in the inappropriate assets case as he is the chief minister. The CBI special court here has heard the arguments of both parties on the petition. Jagan said in his petition that he would not attend the weekly court proceedings in person while serving as the chief minister.
Jagan noted in his petition that his lawyer should be allowed to attend instead. Jagan's lawyer told the court that if he comes to Hyderabad to attend a special court for one day in the rank of CM, the security and protocol will cost lakhs of rupees.
However, the CBI argued that the arrest of Jagan as an MP had affected the witnesses and doubted that as a chief minister, he might influence the witnesses. The court would give its verdict today.
