Centre assures 27 food processing units to Andhra Pradesh

Responding to a query asked Rajahmundry MP Margani Bharath Ram, Union Minister Rameshwar said that 27 food processing industries have been sanctioned across the state and nine of them will be set up in the twin Godavari districts. During the parliamentary questioning, YSRCP parliamentary chief Whip Bharath Ram questioned the centre whether there are any plans to further develop food reform industries in Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP MP asked whether it is true that 200 food reform industries have been set up in AP over the past two years. In response, Union Food Minister Rameshwar announced that 27 food reform out of 90 plants costing Rs. 347.93 crore was set up in East and West Godavari districts.

The Union Minister of State for Food Reforms announced that the number of food reform industries increased to 4,572 in 2014–15 and 4,702 in 2016–17. Minister Rameshwar has announced that Rs 6,000 crore has been sanctioned for the Year 2019-2020.
