Chandrababu Naidu alleges govt for stalling works of Kuppam Branch Canal project
Telugu Desam national president and former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the suspension of Kuppam branch canal works. Chandrababu wrote a letter to the special secretary of the Department of Water Resources stating that there is a severe drinking and irrigation problem in West Chittoor area and that farmers and people of Kuppam and Palamaneru constituencies are facing severe difficulties.
He said 90 per cent of the Kuppam Branch Canal works were completed during TDP tenure. Only works of worth Rs. 50 crore are pending. It is painful to discontinue the remaining 10 percent of works of the year. He said that stopping bills for past works was government's veneaganace.
If the Kuppam branch canal is completed in a timely manner, it is possible to provide water to 110 ponds. During the TDP period, drinking and irrigation departments were given utmost priority. Chandrababu alleged that YSRCP had completely destroyed water resources during the year.
