Vijayawada: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday vowed to work hard to see that his party returned to power in the State. Addressing a State-level meeting of the party activists here, he said the TDP has a bright future ahead.

The party would appoint new committees in each Lok Sabha constituency right from village-level. He also said that the strength of youth in the party would be increased to about 40 to 50 per cent. There was a need to infuse young blood into the party, he opined.

Naidu said the TDP was analysing all factors behind the party's defeat in the 2019 Assembly elections. He pointed out that though the TDP had won only 23 Assembly seats, it had secured 40 per cent votes in the State.

The TDP chief said that all the associate bodies of the party should be strengthened while the leaders should focus on the strengthening the party. The party leaders should protect the party workers and sympathisers from the attacks by the YSR Congress cadre.

Every leader had the responsibility to protect the party workers, he said. Naidu warned that he would not tolerate if the YSRCP workers continued their attacks on the TDP activists. He said the TDP never indulged in such attacks while it was in power during the last five years.

Naidu said thousands of TDP sympathisers were arrested and 469 leaders were attacked by the YSR Congress. The police were witnessing the attacks as mute spectators, he regretted. The TDP chief called upon party leaders and workers to always be available to people and address their concerns.

He congratulated the MLAs and MLCs for strongly raising their voice on people's problems in the recent Assembly session. Naidu found fault with the comments made against TDP leaders by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram in Srikakulam district on Monday. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani and former Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao failed to attend the morning session of the TDP State-level meeting.
