The government is planning to move the floodwaters of 210 tmc of water at the rate of 23 thousand cusecs per day to the hard-drinking water in the sea by the Godavari. For this purpose, the government has decided to make a DPR to move it to the head regulator. As part of Sagar's second phase, it is expected to provide irrigation water to another two lakh acres of Prakasam district and Kannigiri constituencies.

Similarly, the AP government hopes that water will be vital in the Balollapalli Balancing Reservoir for areas such as Tigrichanta and Nagarjunasagar. The government plans to move the remaining water from the sea to areas where there is a shortage of water from the Godavari Delta. Along with the existing Veligonda, KC Canal, Telugu Ganga Project, SR back canal, etc., is likely to be released water by Banakacharula regulator.

The entire process will move 460 km of water through gravity. The Polavaram project is at 37 meters above sea level, and the Banakacharla head regulator is at 260 meters. This means that the water is lifted in different stages to a height of 230 meters. This will require 2100 MW of current.

According to preliminary estimates, the value of the proposed project is estimated to be over Rs 60,000 crore. AP CM Jagan advised to be careful in the use of funds spent on the management of the projects should be completed in order of priority.
