Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to open Nagara Vanam in Kadapa soon
Kadapa: Nagara Vanam at Mamillapalli, 3 km from Kadapa city, is ready for inauguration.
According to sources, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy during his visit to Kadapa in the first week June will inaugurate Nagara Vanam (city forest). Mamillapalli is a hamlet situated under the limits of Palakonda reserve forest. Earlier, the Forest department had declared Mamillapalli as prohibited area to protect the wild animals. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr Mohammed Ilyas Rizvi, during his visit some time ago, proposed to develop Mamillapalli as city forest. He also proposed to set up a centre to create awareness on protection of wild animals and importance of developing greenery for maintenance of ecological balance.
Speaking to The Hans India, District Forest Officer (DFO) M Sivaprasad said that proposal was pending for establishment of Nagara Vanam near the city. He explained Nagara Vanam has children park, watch tower, cycling track, walking paths, Yoga and interpretation centre, Nakshatra Vanam, Rasi Vanam, Navagraha Vanam and Vinayaka Patrivanam. The DFO stated that medicinal and traditional plants were raised in Nagara Vanam to educate people about them.
