Chittoor: 16 cases registered for violating Model Code
Chittoor: Sixteen cases were registered during the filing of nominations for ZPTC, MPTC posts, on Wednesday, according to District Election Authority and District Collector N B Guptha. A report was submitted to the Election Commissioner pertaining to the untoward incidents occurred at Karvetinagar, Pulichetla, Yadamari, Punganur and other places, he said.
Addressing a press conference at Collectorate on Thursday, he said that there was no question of sparing anybody irrespective of their influence and power if they violate model code of conduct. He said that out of 858 nominations filed for 65 ZPTCs in the district, 196 are by YSRCP and 167 by TDP.
With regarding 4,260 MPTC posts, YSRCP filed 2,076 nominations and TDP filed 1,653 nominations . The BJP, Jana Sena, and Congress parties also filed their nominations, he further said. SP S Senthil Kumar stated that there were certain violations of code on Wednesday.
So far 1,887 bind-over cases have been booked while 8 suo moto cases have been registered. A report was sent to the DGP explaining the untoward incidents that took place on Wednesday, he said. DPO Sambasiva Reddy, DD Information Ramakrishna and others were present.
