Chittoor: 2 held, red sanders logs worth 1cr seized

Chittoor: Police have arrested two red sanders smugglers and seized 122 red sanders logs worth Rs 1.0 crore along with a lorry in the early hours on Friday.

Addressing media persons, K Krishnarjuna Rao, ASP ( Operations ), said that as per the instructions of SP Senthil Kumar, police officials have to take up vehicle checking to curtail red sanders smuggling and other illegal transportations. ``On Friday morning, Chittoor DSP K Eswara Reddy and Trainee DSP Yaswanth along with their police force have initiated a vehicle check-up drive at Gudipala on National High Way. At the time, a lorry was going speedily towards Vellore from Chittoor. The police have chased the vehicle and arrested P Balaji ( 34), the native of Renigunta and B R Ramesh ( Driver ), native of Maharashtra. The police have seized 122 red sanders worth Rs 1.0 crore along with the lorry. A case was registered in Gudipala police station. Chittoor West CI Lakshmi Kantha Reddy and others took part in the operation, the ASP added.
