Chittoor: Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram expressed displeasure over alleged 'encroachment' of judiciary into the ambit of executive and interference of courts in the administration of the government. The Speaker visited Kanipakam temple here on Thursday along with Puthalapattu MLA M S Babu.

Later, speaking to media, Sitaram said that it was not desirable on the part of courts to interfere in the matters of executive as per Constitution. "Unfortunately, the Andhra Pradesh government has been facing several negative verdicts from the courts in respect of the administration and the policies of the government," he said.

He said in a Parliamentary democracy, bodies elected by people have extensive powers to fulfil the aspirations of people. "If the judiciary interferes in the executive's domain dictating do's and don'ts, what is the use of conducting elections, electing people's representatives like Speaker, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and others?' he said.

Asking the judges whether courts were meant to rule the state by dictating the terms to the executive, the Assembly Speaker called for a nation-wide debate on this intrusion.

He lamented that never in the history of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council rejected the Money Bills.
