'Clean Godavari, green city are priorities'
Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram Parliamentary constituency TDP candidate Maganti Roopa says clean Godavari and green city are her priorities and other issues will also be taken up based on the needs of people. She stressed the importance of bringing back the past glory to the historical city and City of Grand Culture.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, Roopa said TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu gave two MLA and one MP tickets to women in the constituency, which goes a long way in achieving the party's stated aim of women empowerment. "Steps will be taken to empower women in the constituency by providing jobs through industrialisation and from other sources. In Biccavolu, a women-based industrial park has commenced and another such park will be set up in the city. Rajamahendravaram has a pride of place in women empowerment as great social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam Panthulu took up many a revolutionary initiatives in this direction here," she said.
Roopa said efforts will be made to get Heritage City tag for the cultural capital of state with the help of the Central government as the city has all the necessary parameters in this regard. To a question, she said plans were afoot to organise cultural activities through artistes regularly to retain the name of cultural hub of the state. Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram will be made affordable or in eligible cases, free to the artistes.
"There are abundant opportunities to develop this area as an important tourist spot. Tourism, music, cultural and youth fests will also be conducted to uphold the traditions and culture of this area. A music festival titled 'Raaga Godavari' will be organised," she said adding that this historical city was famed for music, dance, and other arts. She also reminded that many social reformers, freedom fighters, both male and female, writers came from the city.
Rajamahendravaram is the best location for air cargo transportation as the airport is centrally located and has all the potential to attain international status, said the TDP candidate and daughter-in-law of sitting MP Maganti Murali Mohan, adding that commitment and vision are important to any leader to develop the respective area and also for the betterment of the people.
She said Morampudi flyover will be completed as per schedule as foundation stone was laid and steps will be taken to lay foundation stones to the flyovers sanctioned at Diwanchervu, Lalachervu, Vemagiri and Jonnada too and all the pending works would be completed.
She underlined the need to strengthen economic base in villages which are the backbone of the country. Roopa appealed to the people to vote in her favour to serve them and assured to be available to the people in the constituency at any time and also develop the constituency on all fronts.
