Clean Srikakulam draws huge response: Collector J Nivas
Srikakulam: District Collector J Nivas on Sunday called upon the parents and teaching fraternity to inculcate the habit of cleaning surroundings among students at primary level.
Inaugurating the 'Clean Srikakulam' drive along with students on Sunday as part of Swachh Bharath, the Collector said that it is responsibility of all people residing in the city.
Sweeping the roads, Nivas appealed to students and people from various walks of life to maintain cleanliness to put an end to spread of deadly ailments. Stating bad sanitary conditions leading to spread of seasonal ailments and deadly diseases, he suggested people to change their attitude of dumping garbage on roads, drains and in vacant sites. Indiscriminate dumping of garbage is leading to spread of deadly diseases, he pointed out.
On the occasion, the Collector directed the municipal officials to start regular verification of all areas across the city in the morning. He also asked officials to educate public on the importance of Swachh Bharath to maintain healthy environment.
The Collector said the municipal staff and lecturers of colleges both at intermediate and at graduation level, need to adopt some areas across the city to maintain clean environment.
