CM calls for eradication of anaemia, malnutrition in Amaravati

Amaravati: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to eradicate anaemia and malnutrition among children in the state.

The Chief Minister discussed issues of pregnant women, babies, mothers, and malnutrition in children during a review on midday meal held at his residence at Tadepalli on Thursday. He enquired about the quality of food and facilities that were being provided to women, children, and schools.

Jagan learnt about the nutritious food that is being provided to pregnant women and children. He issued instructions on the need to improve the diet and norms as well as issue of money transfer into the accounts of beneficiaries.

He told the officials to improve the quality of food being provided children in schools in the afternoon and establish 65 more centralised kitchens in cities. They also discussed providing one more food item to children in the schools, as part of midday meal.

Renovation works in schools will be started from November and completed by March 2020. The government is planning to develop 15,000 schools in the first phase. "Don't compromise in providing facilities and developing infrastructure at the schools. We are ready to pay additional money, if needed," he said.

The Chief Minister ordered that uniforms and books be supplied to all schools before start of the academic year. Ministers A Suresh and Taaneti Vanitha were present in the review meet.
