CM committed to development of sports: MLA A Srinivasulu

Chittoor: A Srinivasulu, MLA of Chittoor city, gave a call to sports players to make use of welfare schemes introduced by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The National Sports Day celebrated here on Thursday, on the occasion of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand's birthday anniversary.

Earlier, the MLA flagged off 5K Run at Mesanical Grounds in which students, officials and political leaders took part. Addressing the meeting, Srinivasulu exhorted students and youth to take active part in sports to develop physical fitness. Participating in the programme, District Collector N Bharath Gupta said that physical exercise would play a prominent role in averting diseases like heart attack and blood pressure.

Municipal Corporation of Chittoor C Obulesu and District Sports Officer S Lakshmi also spoke. Chittoor MLA has presented first prize money of Rs 5,000 to Lakshman, second prize to Jagadish and Rs 3,000 cash and third prize money Rs 2,000 to Nishan. District SP Ch V Appala Naidu and other officials were present.
