CM Jagan Reddy writes to PM Modi, expresses his displeasure over central budget

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh by giving special category status to the State. In the wake of Fifteenth Finance Commission's statement which reads that the decision on the special category status to AP has to be decided by the central government, The AP chief minister urged the centre to take the decision.

CM Jagan wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the centre has not taken any measures in the budget to assure the State, who's the financial State is severely affected after the bifurcation of the State. He sought the centre's intervention to save the State from the financial drought.

However, the central government in its reply to the Telugu Desam Party MP Kesineni Nani' question on the Special Category Status has said that the issue of the special status to Andhra Pradesh is all over. The Minister for State in financial Affairs Anurag Thakur has made clear that there is no question of giving Special Category Status to the State.
