CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy fails to get appointment with Amit Shah

Amaravati: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy abruptly ended his Delhi tour and returned to Amaravati on Friday. The Chief Minister had gone to Delhi on Thursday and according to the CMO he was to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the evening.

According to sources, YSRCP Parliamentary party leader Vijayasai Reddy and Mithun Reddy met Amit Shah in Parliament House and urged him to give time for Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Amit Shah is said to have indicated that after 10 pm he may meet him at his residence. Following this indication, the Chief Minister reached Delhi in the evening but despite repeated efforts till midnight Amit Shah's office did not confirm his appointment.

The Chief Minister expected that Amit Shah may call them on Friday so that he could extend an invitation to him to attend the ground-breaking ceremony of Kadapa Steel plant. The Chief Minister also wanted to meet the Prime Minister to request him to be chief guest at the ground-breaking function.

The YSR Congress party (YSRCP) chief is under pressure to fund various welfare schemes as the state is facing a debt to the tune of Rs 2.58 lakh crore. He is seeking special category status for the state and fulfilment of all the commitments made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, the sources said.

While the Chief Minister and his team of officers were waiting for the appointment, news about the death of his personal assistant D Narayana came in and he decided to rush back officials said. Narayana has been associated with Jagan for three decades and had served food to him during his padayatra.

The Chief Minister, who landed at Hyderabad, took a special flight to Kadapa and from there went to Narayana's village in Anantapur district by a chopper.
