CM YS Jagan asks officials to speed up rescue work; announces Rs 10 lakh Ex-gratia

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy enquired about the boat accident at Devipatnam in East Godavari district and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. He was in constant touch with the East Godavari district Collector, Party leaders and other Officials. He directed them to carry out the rescue operations on a war-footing and asked them to use NDRF(National Disaster Response Force) teams, besides pressing into service Navy and ONGC helicopters in the rescue operations.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also ordered all the available Ministers in the district to go and supervise the rescue work at the site. He directed the officials to suspend all boating services immediately in the region and to examine the boats about their viability of transportation. He also told them to check for the licence of the boats and if adequate training was given to the staff or not. He also asked the officials to check if the boats have precautionary measures or not.

The Chief Minister asked for a complete report on the incident and asked to release safety guidelines prepared by an experts committee.
