CM YS Jagan assures of Minimum Support Price to tobacco farmers in Andhra

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review on the plight of tobacco farmers. At a review meeting held at his camp office on Thursday, key decisions were taken to help the farmers. The government decided to intervene in the market to help the farmers.

"A separate company will be formed in two to three days, which will be led by an IAS officer; the government will announce the minimum prices for tobacco. The auction will be conducted according to the prices fixed by the government at the procuring centres.

CM YS Jagan has instructed the officials to file cases against the traders and companies who do not participate in the tobacco purchase auction. CM said licensed traders must participate in the auction and also suggested that purchases be made on all days of the auction.

Chief Minister YS Jagan has instructed the authorities to make purchases in accordance with the stipulated target or else their licenses shall be canceled.
