CM YS Jagan conducts review over COVID-19 measures, emphasises on need to eliminate fears

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on COVID-19 preventive measures on Tuesday. CM made it clear that there is a need to another alternate plan to eliminate panic over Coronavirus among the people. It is not right to discriminate those who are infected with a dreadful virus. "There is a need to eliminate fears and concerns about the virus; officials have to give high priority to this issue, " CM Jagan said. The chief minister urged volunteers to increase awareness of the virus.

The meeting was attended by Deputy CM, Minister of Health, Alla Nani, CS Nilam Sawhney, DGP Gautam Sawang, Special Chief Secretary of Medical Health Ministry KS Jawahar Reddy and other senior officials of the government consultant Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

The officials have said that the CM YS Jagan's speech during a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday has got wide appreciation. Officials said everyone was supportive of the need to eliminate fears of the coronavirus. CM YS Jagan said that Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had spoken to him on Monday night and lauded him (Jagan) over the aspects raised at Prime Minister video conference on Monday.

Officials have brought to notice of the chief minister on an issue where an employee who was discharged on Monday after recovering completely from the coronavirus being objected to enter the house. Officials said similar incidents of discrimination are occurring due to panic. However, Jagan urged the officials to take measures to avoid such situations.

Meanwhile, 33 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday taking the number to 2051. In the last 24 hours, 10,730 samples were tested.
