CM YS Jagan gives life to Aarogyasri scheme with Rs 1740 crore
Amaravati: The state Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has presented his maiden Budget for the fiscal year 2019-20 in AP Assembly on 12 July (Friday).
As promised, the YSRCP government has given priority to the health care sector with the budget allocations of Rs 11,399 crore.
The Arogyasri scheme which was introduced by late CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy has gained popularity as a lifesaver to many. During the previous government regime, the scheme has been fade-out.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who promised to give life to Aarogyasri scheme during the elections has allocated huge funds for the scheme. Minister Buggana said that the government has decided to allocate Rs 1740 crore to YSR Aarogyasri scheme.
He said the YSR Aarogyasri scheme will also be applicable to middle-class families with the income below Rs 5 lakh.
Other highlights:
Rs 143 crore has been set aside for 108 ambulances.
Rs 1500 crore for infrastructure development in hospitals
Rs 455 crore for the salary hike of Asha workers to Rs 10,000
Rs 68 crore for medical buildings
Rs 66 crore for YSR Tribal medical college
Rs 66 crore for government medical college Gurazala, Guntur.
Rs 66 crore for Vizianagaram government medical college
Rs 50 crore for Palasa Kidney Research Centre and super specialty hospital
Rs 43 crore to the State Cancer Institute
