Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy calls on Governor Biswa Bhusan Harinchandan at Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada on Monday

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday called on Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan. The Chief Minister had a 40-minute long tete-a -tete with the Governor.

Sources at the Chief Minister's Office stated that it was a courtesy call.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister is said to have briefed the Governor on the latest developments in the State, including the attacks on temples.

A series of attacks on temples and desecration of idols has become a regular feature in the State. The police have been successful in arresting some persons in this regard, but the motive behind the attacks is not established. Some 'lunatic' persons to stray rats or cats too are being cited as reasons in a couple of incidents.

However, the Opposition has been pointing fingers at the ruling party while the Chief Minister himself suspects a foul play to tarnish his and his government's image. In fact, the CM questioned the TDP's intentions in blaming the government while suspecting the timing of the attacks. He feels the attacks are taking place just ahead of the launch of major public welfare programmes.

It is said that the CM reportedly apprised the Governor of the same and explained his Government's firm moves to tackle the crime. He is said to have explained AP Government's measures to roll out the vaccine after the dry runs in the State.
