CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to inaugurate boating control rooms tomorrow
Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate nine control rooms set up at different boating places in the state. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) set up the control rooms at Vijayawada, Srisailam, Singanapalli, Perantalapalli and Pochavaram in West Godavari, Gandi Pochamma, Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari, Rishikonda beach in Vizag, Nagarjuna Sagar boating point in Guntur district and Srisailam boating point in Kurnool district.
The CM through videoconference will inaugurate the control rooms at the boating points at 10.30 am, said Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation on Tuesday. In Vijayawada, the control room was built at the Berm park in Bhavanipuram.
After major boat disaster took place in Godavari river in 2019, the State government has decided to set up control rooms at the boating places to monitor and regulate the boats. The control rooms have a team comprises staff from the departments of police, AP tourism, revenue, fire etc. System operator, manager, inspection staff, life guards, swimmers and others are appointed in the team. They register the vehicles passing in the rivers and will give suggestions to the boat operators and tourists. Life saving equipment will be arranged at the boating points and control rooms will monitor it. Arrangements will also be made to take up rescue operations on war footing basis if any accidents take place in the rivers and at boating points.
