CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy warns' ministers of their performance in local body elections
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reportedly warned the state ministers ahead of local body elections to be held later in the month. After the cabinet meeting held at Secretariat in Mandadam on Wednesday, Jagan seems to have laid the responsibility of the local body elections over the ministers and MLAs. CM Jagan is said to be given strict orders to ministers to work for the party's prospects in the upcoming elections.
He also asserted that the ministers would forgo their minister posts if they had not performed well in the ensuing elections for local bodies. Ministers have been advised to rectify the disputes between the party leadership in the districts. Also, the chief minister directed the cadre and leaders not to distribute the alcohol and money in the elections and asked them to be calm and composed while seeking votes from the public.
The government is contemplating to release the notification for the ZPTC and the MPTC elections on March 7 and is expecting to hold the elections on March 24 elections. While for the Gram Panchayats elections, the notification is said to issue elections on March 15 and wind up the elections on March 27. The proposals were forwarded to the State Election Commission and the model code of conduct would come into force from March 9.
