CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Nara Chandrababu Naidu spar over Vaddileni Runalu
Amaravati: AP Assembly once again witnessed challenges, counter challenges and heated exchanges between Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu.
It all began when Speaker T Sitaram took up adjournment motion moved by the TDP, perhaps the first one in the Assembly during the last five years. The TDP had moved the adjournment motion against the chief minister following his challenge that the previous government had not paid even a rupee to the farmer towards zero interest loan scheme (Vaddileni Runalu) on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that he was prepared to present the records to prove his arguments and wanted to know if Naidu would resign from the Assembly. Countering the statement of the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu on Friday showed the documents related to scheme and funds released by TDP government and also sent a set of documents to the Speaker.
He said that the TDP government had even paid the dues of 2013-14 when Congress chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was the chief minister. He demanded that Jagan should either tender his resignation or apologise to the people of the state for making false charge.
Reacting sharply to the comments of Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan said that the previous government paid only Rs 630 crore out of a total of Rs 11,595 crore during the last five years.
He said that only 5 per cent amount was paid by the government to beneficiaries. Justifying his comment that nothing was paid, he said it was just like paying Rs 5,000 towards a loan of Rs 1 lakh and claiming that the loan was cleared.
