Coast Guard hosts clean-up drive
Visakhapatnam: As part of the World Environment Day– 2019, the Indian Coast Guard personnel under the aegis of Commander Coast Guard District Headquarters No 6 (AP) organised a coastal clean-up drive at Rushikonda Beach on Sunday.
In addition to Coast Guard personnel, the event aimed at creating awareness among the locals, was attended by the representatives of NGOs and NCC cadets. Participating in the campaign, Additional Commissioner (General), GVMC GVVS Murthy and Chief Medical Officer (Health) A Hemanth emphasised the importance of keeping the coasts clean as it leads to cleaner seas and environment.
A total of 350 members joined hands to collect the trash and dispose them off with the assistance of the GVMC staff. A sand sculpture reflecting the fauna of marine life and the need to maintain it pollution-free was put up by the Coast Guard on the beach.
