Chirala: District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara inspected the Coronavirus isolation ward arranged at the area hospital in Chirala on Wednesday and expressed anger over the administration for the complaints from the public about the services in the hospital.

The District Collector inspected the rooms and wards in the hospital and inquired about the number of staff, services being offered to the patients.

He verified the files, computers, lab, scanning and X-Ray rooms including the toilets and interacted with the public and patients to receive feedback about the services by the hospital staff.

In the meeting, the doctors explained to the District Collector that they were receiving about 400 outpatients every day in the hospital. He vented his ire over the complaints by the doctors themselves and from the patients and warned them to provide better service to the patients and stop quarelling among themselves. He pulled up the doctors over their indifference and negligence.

The medical staff explained to the collector that the house to house survey in Chirala is 99 percent complete and they observed seven suspicious cases in the town. They said that two people from Dubai and one from America reached the town on Wednesday itself and they are undergoing medical tests.

The collector ordered all foreign returned to be under home quarantine for 14 days and see the virus does not spread to others. He announced that the medical and health department is working round the clock to create awareness on coronavirus and requested the cooperation of the public in fighting the pandemic.

Additional Joint Collector K Narendra Prasad, DMHO Dr. K Padmavathi, Vaidya Vidhana Parishad coordinator Dr Usha Rani, Ongole RDO Prabhakar Reddy, Medical Department Engineer Ravi and others also participated in the program.
