Collector expresses ire on RIMS medical officers

Srikakulam: District Collector J Nivas expressed ire on government run RIMS hospital medical officers for its poor administration. He paid surprise visit to different wards and wings in the RIMS hospital on Thursday. On the occasion Collector verified attendance registers, case sheets of patients at male, female wards and blood bank.

Two employees Bhanu, Sravani signed in the attendance register but were not present at the time of Collector visit. Collector directed officials to suspend the irregular staff. He also warned officials to maintain timings strictly and serve poor people with duty mind.

The Collector also asked officials to concentrate on poor patients service in the wake of summer. During current summer fevers already spreading in rural areas and patients from the rural areas are mainly depending on the RIMS hospital which is the only source for poor patients in the district, Nivas explained.

He expressed unhappy over poor sanitation at RIMS and ordered officials to summon the contracting agency people immediately otherwise will cancel the contract without prior notice. He said that government is spending huge funds on public health and medical officers need to understand that. Collector also stressed on the need of lift facilities at different wings in the RIMS. On the occasion RIMS Resident Medical officer, Dr B. Ch. AppalaNaidu explained requirements at RIMS.
